Covid-19: Seremban wet market closed indefinitely after 2 traders test positive

SEREMBAN: The Seremban wet market here has been closed indefinitely for cleaning and sanitising, after two traders tested positive for Covid-19, says mayor Datuk Zazali Salehudin.
He said the authorities decided to close the market after being notified by the state Health Department of the two positive cases on Saturday (May 2).
“Although the Health authorities have not made the announcement, the Seremban City Council decided to be proactive and issue a notice to close the market.
“The traders were also notified late on Saturday evening, ” he told reporters when met at the wet market here.
Also present was Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The health authorities took samples from 15 traders on Friday (May 1), after they came into close contact with traders from the Selayang wholesale market who have since tested positive for Covid-19.
Asked how long the market would remain closed, Zazali said this could be ascertained for now.
“What I can say is that it will be closed for a minimum three days, so we can clean up the area, ” he said.
The market is usually closed on Tuesdays to allow the city council to conduct cleaning and sanitising, following the outbreak of the virus.
Disinfection work is also carried out on Wednesdays for the same purpose.
Zazali said several business premises around the market had also been ordered to close for the time being.- Star
