Loke highlights Tajuddin's ban due to money politics in comparing Prasarana chairs

Malaysiakini
Following the appointment of Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman as Prasarana chairperson, former Transport minister Anthony Loke has come up with a quick and unfavourable comparison between the new appointee and his predecessor, former chief judge of Malaya Zaharah Ibrahim.
In a Facebook posting last night, Loke highlighted the fact that Umno supreme council member Tajuddin had been fired by the Umno supreme council in 1995 over allegations of money politics to the value of RM6 million in a heated contest for the post of Pasir Salak division chief (then held by then Perak menteri besar Ramli Ngah Talib).
In his post, Loke said that Tajuddin, 72, was then re-admitted into Umno in 1998.
Loke contrasted this with Zaharah (photo), who was appointed as Prasarana chairperson less than six months ago on November 11, 2019.
He highlighted that she had never been involved in party politics and had served as chief judge of Malaya which is the third highest-ranking position in the judiciary after the chief justice of Malaysia and president of the Court of Appeal.
"The Prasarana Group is the largest and most important government-owned public transportation operating company in our country.
"All MRT, LRT, Monorail and Rapid bus services are under Prasarana," said Loke who is also Seremban MP.
"The chairperson appointed to lead this company must have high credibility and integrity.
"I display some background information of the previously appointed and the newly appointed chairpersons.
"I leave it to the public transport users and stakeholders involved to draw their own conclusions," added Loke.
