Rafidah laments absence of leadership amid political horse-trading

Malaysiakini

Former minister Rafidah Aziz has lamented what she claimed is an absence of leadership in the country.
"Nothing has come out... We haven't seen anything.
"Everybody is still fighting for seats and leader (position), but nobody wants to have leadership or show leadership because they don't have it," said during a Facebook live talk show yesterday.
Rafidah expressed disappointment at the political development in the country.
"I am sad at this musical chair of politics in Malaysia, sad for the country and people," she said.
She also expressed dismay at the Perikatan Nasional government's decision to replace with politicians in government-linked companies (GLC).
"The GLCs are not meant to be cash cows for politicians.
"They are not supposed to be dished out to cronies to do what they like," she said.
Rafidah said she was shocked that the government was removing people who have produced good results in the GLCs in favour of politicians.
"I think this is a betrayal to the country.
"Because we are hoping to get the best people. That's why I used the word 'leadership' and not 'leaders'," she said.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, in a bid to consolidate power, has appointed most MPs to head GLCs.
At present, Muhyiddin has a three-seat advantage in the 222-member Dewan Rakyat.
The Pakatan Harapan government collapsed in late February after Muhyiddin pulled Bersatu out and formed a new coalition with PKR defectors, BN, PAS, GPS, PBS and STAR.
Muhyiddin was sworn in as the new prime minister after his mentor-turned-rival Dr Mahathir Mohamad refused to lead the new coalition as he adamantly refused to work with Umno. - Mkini
