Selangor has continued with its penchant for suggestive acronyms for government initiatives through the formation of the Majlis Wanita Selangor or ManiS.
This council will be an umbrella platform for all state government agencies and NGOs to research and develop policies on women in terms of the economy, society, politics and culture.
This was announced during the state Budget 2021 speech by Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari at the legislative assembly today.
Amirudin also announced that Selangor will continue with its Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor (Kiss) and Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor Ibu Tunggal (Kiss It) scheme.
The Kiss programme, which entailed an RM200 monthly grocery shopping voucher for B40 mothers, was initiated in 2018 by then menteri besar Azmin Ali.
The Kiss It programme, said Amirudin, will benefit 5,000 people.
Meanwhile, Amirudin also announced that his government will allocate RM17.5 million next year for an internet program aimed at helping those categorised as B40 with internet access for learning and entrepreneurship.
He said this programme will benefit 54,000 people, including students, single mothers and those with low income.
The Selangor government will also introduce a food bank for needy children under six years of age. This programme will cost RM1 million. - Mkini
