KUALA LUMPUR: MCA will hold its divisions' annual general meeting (AGM) in Nov and its state convention Dec 5 online.
Party secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said in view of the current Covid-19 situation and in consideration of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) stipulated by the National Security Council (NSC) and the Registrar of Societies (RoS), the MCA Central Committee meeting on Oct 29 resolved to hold its 188 divisional AGMs between Nov 1 to 30.
He added that this would be the first time that the state level Conventions would be conducted online, whereas the opening ceremony would be simultaneous and carried out the same day.
MCA President Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong will commence the opening ceremony and also deliver his speech online, he said in a statement, here, today.
Chong said the party Central Committee meeting had also resolved to hold the national level MCA AGM on Dec 13, while the party's Youth wing and Wanita MCA will hold their respective AGMs on Dec 12.
"Everything will be done with strict adherence to the SOPs stipulated by the NSC, both on site and online," he said. - NST
