GEORGE TOWN: A videographer who attended Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s press conference recently has tested negative for Covid-19, and remains in home quarantine pending a second swab test in two weeks.
The videographer said this to a media group on WhatsApp. He said he will be quarantined until Nov 11 and must have another test on the day before he ends the quarantine. It is learnt that he tested negative after a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
On Wednesday, the man was told to get tested after he was considered a close contact of a Covid-19 positive person. This prompted Chow to issue a statement to those who attended the conference, held in between the state executive council meeting on Wednesday to “restrict their movements” for the time being.
A Penang health department official advised in a similar circumstance as above, those who attended the function ought to remain indoors as much as possible until the final swab test was done. The official said the 13th-day test would involve an antibody rapid test kit. - FMT
