84 water tankers sent to critical premises, says Air Selangor

Air Selangor’s tankers will bring much-needed water supply to some of the areas affected by the latest disruption.

PETALING JAYA: Air Selangor has mobilised a total of 84 water tankers to critical premises and residential areas in the Klang Valley that are currently facing water cuts.

In a statement, corporate communications chief Elina Baseri said alternative water supply would also be provided across 17 local service centres at 8pm tonight.

A full list of the centres’ locations can be found on Air Selangor’s website at www.airselangor.com.

On a positive note, Elina said that the odour pollution at the Rantau Panjang water treatment plant has decreased, from a reading of eight TON (threshold odour number) to four TON as of 7pm.

Meanwhile, the SSP1, SSP2 and SSP3 water treatment plants all recorded readings at three TON.

“All four plants are not operational for the time being. Information on water supply recovery in affected areas will be informed once all plants have resumed operations,”
Elina said.

The closure of the four water treatment plants earlier today resulted in 1,139,008 households in 1,279 areas in the Klang Valley going without water since 6pm.

The closure was due to another case of odour pollution detected in Sungai Selangor.

The Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) said operations were halted at various times between 12.20pm and 12.45pm after a solvent-like odour was detected. - FMT
