Annuar denies selling 42 DBKL plots, vows legal action on Cheras MP

Annuar Musa has refuted a claim by Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai that 42 plots of KL City Hall (DBKL) land have been sold since the former was appointed Federal Territories Minister.

In a press conference this morning, Annuar (above) said Tan was mistaken as the plots were owned by private landowners who had applied to DBKL to change land-use rules.

He clarified that he never once approved any applications to sell any DBKL land and is pursuing legal action against the lawmaker.

“I want to stress here that up until today and this second, not one application from DBKL asking to sell any DBKL-owned assets has reached me.

“I repeat, up until this second, I have never received any applications from DBKL to sell any of its assets,” he said at the Parliament lobby.

Annuar opined that Tan’s allegation was “slanderous” and had ruined his and DBKL’s reputation.

“I have therefore instructed my lawyer to take legal action against him (Tan) in accordance with available processes.

“I view his allegation seriously and I repeat - I have not received any applications from DBKL to sell any assets during my tenure as federal territories minister,” he stressed.

Private landowners, not DBKL

Yesterday, Tan had based his allegation against Annuar on how DBKL had published three notices to alter the existing Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 in recent months.

He said the latest notice indicated changes to 33 plots of DBKL-owned land while the earlier two notices indicated changes to three and six plots respectively.

Asked about this today, Annuar clarified that these alteration requests had come from private landowners, not DBKL.

“Does a plan-change equate land sales by DBKL? We need to ask him (Tan) this.

“To my knowledge, this has nothing to do with land sales. The second thing here is - as far as I know, these applications (to change the land-use provisions) are applications from private landowners,” he explained.

Annuar elaborated that landowners had a legal right to apply to DBKL to change the land-use terms under which their land had been gazetted in the KL City Plan 2020.

“The case of the 42 (plots) is private landowners applied to DBKL for the structural plan to be changed so they can develop their land,” he said.
