Bus tickets to Kelantan selling fast after CMCO announced

There have been brisk sales of bus tickets to Kelantan soon after the government reimposed the conditional movement control order (MCO) on most states in Peninsular Malaysia.

Konsortium E-Mutiara Bhd chief executive officer Che Ibrahim Che Ismail said most of the buses from Perak, Johor, and Penang which have been arriving in Kelantan since yesterday were full.

"Most customers are coming from states where the conditional MCO will be imposed (tomorrow).

"Trips from the Klang Valley remain stable because that state is already under conditional MCO and hence travellers need police permission," he told Malaysiakini.

Che Ibrahim said his company was unable to arrange for extra buses.

As of tomorrow, all states in Peninsular Malaysia except for Kelantan, Pahang, and Perlis will be under conditional MCO restrictions.

Inter-state and inter-district travel is mostly not allowed under conditional MCO areas, except for work or with police permission.

These measures were put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, bus ticket vendor Izani Zakaria, 38, told Malaysiakini that he expects tickets for today to run out soon.

"Buses have been full since last night until this morning," he said.

Arman Daud, 29, said he chose to return to Kota Bharu, Kelantan because he has recently lost his job in a northern state on the west coast.

"I'll have to stay here until things get better," he said. - Mkini
