KOTA KINABALU: A man under observation for Covid-19 has been rescued after he allegedly jumped off the 6th floor of a hospital here on Saturday night.

The man, aged 62, survived the fall after landing on the roof of the 3rd floor of the hospital at about 8pm.

City police chief Habibi Majinji said early investigations found the man had been warded at the Women and Children’s Hospital in Likas here for cancer as well as Covid-19.

He said it was believed the man had been under duress since he was warded several days ago.

“The man sustained serious injuries following the fall. He was rescued by firemen who arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call,” Habibi said.

Police will take a statement from the man after his condition improves.

Last month, a woman believed to be a Covid-19 patient fell to her death at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 here. Health authorities later said the woman was infected. - FMT
