Johor civil servants will receive special financial aid of half-month pay, or a minimum of RM1,000, with the payment to be disbursed before the end of the year.
The good news was announced by Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad when tabling the 2021 state budget during the state assembly sitting today.
“To the Johor state civil servants, who are the backbone of the state government’s administration, the state government has agreed to provide special financial assistance for the financial year 2020 to them.
"This special financial assistance will also be extended to all Al-Quran and Fardu Ain (Kafa) class teachers, staff of Community Rehabilitation Center (PDK) and Johor Islamic Kindergarten (TAJ) teachers," he said.
Apart from the civil servants, Hasni said one-off assistance would also be provided to various groups that were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said a one-off payment of RM300 for two months would be given to 26,626 recipients who are in the Social Welfare Department’s e-kasih list, involving an allocation of RM15.98 million.
There will also be a one-off payment of RM500 to 47,159 tenants of business premises, market traders, night market traders and farmers’ market traders who are registered with local government authorities in the state, involving an allocation of RM23.58 million.
A total of 5,205 taxi owners will also receive the same payment, he added.
The state government, he said, is also allocating RM5.2 million for a one-off payment of RM150 to 35,000 university students from B40 families.

He said a one-off payment of RM500 would also be given to 2,071 registered school bus operators and RM100 for 20,000 drivers and riders of e-hailing companies that are registered in Johor, involving an allocation of RM2 million.
A one-off payment of RM100 will also be given to primary and secondary school students from families with a household income of between RM3,000 and RM7,000 a month, he added. This involves an allocation of RM18.94 million and will benefit 189,389 students.
In appreciation of the sacrifices of 30,000 frontliners in Johor, he said the state government is giving them a one-off payment of RM200 each.
Hasni said the state government is also allocating RM11 million as food bank aid to the urban poor in Johor.
For the tourism industry players, the government is allocating RM5 million, including for one-off incentive payment to registered tour guides, tourism associations and agencies.
