Flood victims brought to temporary shelters must take Covid-19 test

Flood victims who are brought to temporary evacuation centres in Pahang and Johor are required to undergo swab tests for Covid-19, Senior Minister (Security) Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

This is among a list of standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council for government agencies in charge of evacuation efforts.

As of this morning, 13,218 flood victims in Pahang and 5,484 in Johor have been moved to the temporary evacuation centres, Ismail Sabri said.

Under the SOP, he said, the centres should be equipped with MySejahtera QR code and all evacuees and officials on duty should use this code. Also, everyone is required to wear a mask while they are at the centres.

"The centres should also provide a specific space for persons under surveillance (PUS)... As for those who show symptoms, they will be referred to a health clinic and later segregated in a separate place," he told a press conference today.

"Every centre must also ensure the use of sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) to carry out their operations," he said.

On food and beverage preparation at the relief centres, Ismail Sabri said only packed food would be served to the flood victims and no cooking is allowed.

"Also, group activities that affect physical distancing, including visiting flood victims at the relief centres, are not allowed," he added.  - Mkini
