PUTRAJAYA: Members of Parliament and state assemblymen are now allowed to travel for work purposes during the movement control order.
In an updated list of standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the National Security Council on Wednesday (Jan 27), state and federal lawmakers can travel for official purposes and to visit their constituencies.
“State assemblymen and MPs are allowed to travel to their respective districts and states during the MCO on official duty or to visit their constituencies, ” the list said.
The new ruling took effect on Wednesday.
Malaysia has imposed a movement control order on all states except for Sarawak until Feb 4 where inter-state and district travel is not permitted unless with police permission.
The government had just allowed for married couples who live in different states to travel to meet their spouses and children, also subject to police permission. - Star
