KOTA KINABALU: Disciplinary action would be taken if any frontliner is found to be involved with a group of people seen on a video clip drinking beer at a Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre here.
State minister Masidi Manjun said investigations were still being carried out by the state health department and the police to identify the individuals involved, and whether a frontliner has helped the group of patients to bring in liquor to the centre.
“Police also did not rule out the possibility of the liquor being brought in by the patients themselves or with assistance from the staff on duty,” he said.
Masidi said the management staff at the centre had carried out a surprise inspection to prevent the same thing from happening again.
A widely shared video shows six men and two women holding cans of beer at the treatment centre.
Yesterday, Sabah police commissioner Hazani Ghazali confirmed that he had received a report on the incident and said an investigation was currently under way, including taking statements from staff at the centre. - FMT
