KUALA LUMPUR: In conjuction with Chinese New Year tomorrow, the Malaysian Embassy in Beijing has launched the KPTPrihatin initiative to deliver special souvenir packs for Malaysian students who are still in China.
In a statement today, Education Malaysia Beijing said the initiative was launched the Malaysian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, Raja Datuk Nushirwan Zainal Abidin.
"This initiative, first mooted by Higher Education Minister and implemented by Education Malaysia Beijing is an expression of concern for the welfare of all Malaysian students pursuing their studies in China.
"His Excellency Raja Datuk Nushirwan conveyed the message that although Malaysian students are far away from their families, they remain close to our hearts - a sentiment expressed by the Malay proverb "jauh di mata, dekat di hati".
"This initiative also received the support and cooperation of all Malaysian student associations in China.
"Currently, all Malaysian students who are still in China are doing well and have been communicating with Education Malaysia Beijing from time to time," read the statement.
Also present at the launch event were Deputy Chief of Mission, Sanmugam Subramaniam; Education Malaysia Beijing director, Abdul Aziz How Abdullah, and Education Malaysia Beijing education attache (promotion), Jason Choy Min Sheng. - NST
