KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating a social media post showing a blank interstate travel permission form bearing the signature of a police station chief.
Commenting on the post, Kemaman OCPD Supt Hanyan Ramlan said initial investigations revealed that the signature on the form, said to be that of Chukai police station chief Insp Mohamad Ramizan Ramli, is a forgery.
"The interstate travel form was given to a woman who wanted to go to Kuala Lumpur to attend a job interview on Thursday (April 8), ” he said.
Supt Hanyan said in a statement on Wednesday (April 7) that an investigation has been initiated under Section 468 of the Penal Code for forgery with the intention to cheat, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities
A post on Twitter with the caption “Dapat info SOP terbaru ialah approve dulu baru isi form” (or “Info on the latest SOP, get approval first and then fill up the form”) has since gone viral.
The post has caused quite a stir with many netizens criticising the Twitter user for bragging that she was able to get permission to travel interstate, while others have cried foul over perceived "preferential treatment".
However, police have since issued a clarification on the matter. - Star
