KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today pledged to continue helping the Indian community in the country through the concept of shared prosperity.
In his virtual speech during MIC's 74th annual general assembly, Muhyiddin said with improved economic growth, he believed the welfare of the Indian community would be protected with more opportunities from the government to improve their livelihoods.
In the 2021 Budget, he said, the government had allocated RM100 million to the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) to help the B40 community and empower them in terms of education.
"The Indian community is also eligible to receive help from the government through various financial aid under the stimulus packages announced.
"Our step forward is to ensure the goal of fair and equitable sharing of national prosperity through the 2030 Shared Prosperity Vision (2030 SPV) be achieved," he said.
He added that the 2030 SPV would provide great benefits to the Indian community in the country, and stressed that no one would be left behind.
"This includes the Indian community, no matter your living standards, wherever you are.
