Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's approval rating is an indication that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government is on the right path, said Bersatu's women's wing vice-chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
She said this based on a Merdeka Centre survey which found Muhiyddin's approval rating to be at 67 percent among voters in Peninsular Malaysia.
She also noted Muhyiddin's approval rating among Malays to be high, at 83 percent.
"The survey reflects voter's confidence in Muhyiddin's performance and the PN government's ability to manage the economy and people's welfare," she said.
She added that it was also a rebuke against the opposition's criticisms.
"The opposition often fans the people's sentiments with all kinds of allegations and cheap gimmicks to create a negative perception against the government.
"To me, this is only an attempt to cover up their own weakness. The reality is the people recognises that Muhyiddin and the PN government cares for them, are transparent and carry out their duties responsibly," she said.
She also lauded the people's confidence in the government in managing the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said this was necessary as the people's cooperation is essential in defeating the disease. - Mkini
