Labuan PKR chief Simsudin Sidek said a majority of party divisions in Sabah wants to cut ties with Warisan and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Simsudin (above) said following the conclusion of the PKR annual general assemblies at the divisional levels, 17 out of 25 divisions had proposed a motion that rejected cooperation with Warisan and Mahathir.
The 26th division of Pensiangan had to postpone their general assembly due to Covid-19 issues.
Simsudin blamed the rejection of Warisan on its president Shafie Apdal's comment that Warisan was "minus Harapan".
The informal cooperation between Warisan and Harapan was described as Harapan Plus but relationships have become strained after the collapse of the Harapan Plus federal government.
PKR has been reluctant to cooperate with Warisan and Mahathir's Parti Pejuang Tanah Air while PKR's Harapan partners DAP and Amanah wants a broad opposition coalition.
As for the rejection of Mahathir, Simsudin said it was due to Mahathir's decision to resign as prime minister during the Sheraton Move which gave opponents an upper hand over Harapan.
He said the PKR divisions also made a commitment to see their party president Anwar Ibrahim become the next prime minister. - Mkini
