Police detained three foreign men for allegedly attempting to rape and rob a senior citizen in Taman Skudai, Johor Bharu, Johor on Monday.
Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP Dzulkhairi Mukthar said the suspects are construction workers, with one being a 26-year-old Bangladeshi and the other two Myanmar nationals, aged 21 and 26, who were nabbed at about 2.30pm.
Dzulkhairi said during the 3.30am incident, a 65-year-old housewife was sleeping in her house when she heard a sound like someone opening her room window.
"The victim then saw a dark-skinned foreign man, topless and only wearing underwear standing in front of her bed and holding an iron rod,” he said in a statement.
He added that the suspect left after forcing the woman to hand him over RM500.
"Police also seized several pieces of evidence which included an iron rod, a crowbar, a grey-coloured boxer, and a mobile phone," he said, adding that the two Myanmar nationals were arrested for abetment in the case.
All the suspects will be remanded today under Sections 392/397 and 354 of the Penal Code and Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
