After being granted her claim for RM45,000 and recovering from her injuries, the young woman thought the ordeal was behind her.
However, she has been named as a defendant in a civil suit filed last month as the registered owner of a vehicle involved in an accident in November last year in Kampung Banggol in Kelantan, over 300km from her home in Taiping.
The car bore the same registration details as her written-off car.
“As first I thought it was some kind of scam, because I was under the impression that my car was a total loss,” she told FMT, recalling when she was first made aware of legal proceedings.
The plaintiffs include the young man involved in the November accident and his father, who are claiming damages in the form of hospital fees, lost income, among others.
Her legal team has been unable to verify the make, model and engine model of the car involved in the Kelantan crash. She has since filed a report with Taiping police, and is considering taking legal action of her own. - FMT
