Ex-Bersatu rep stumping for BN calls for youth candidate to replace him

Incumbent Larkin assemblyperson Mohd Izhar Ahmad who will not be defending his state seat has expressed hope to see it filled by young blood.

He urged the people to learn to trust the youth and give them a chance.

"Without me contesting the seat, it may also open an easier path for young people. Give the chance to the younger generations to contest the seat.

"Now, anyone who has reached the age of 18 can be nominated as a candidate.

"We must learn to trust them. Maybe, with good idealism, they might even do a better job to govern," he said at a press conference.

Izhar held the presser earlier today to announce his resignation from Bersatu, citing loss of confidence in party president Muhyiddin Yassin.

He also announced that he would not be defending the Larkin seat in the upcoming Johor election nor contest in any other state seat. Instead, Izhar expressed his support for BN.

No longer interested to contest

Izhar revealed that he no longer has the interest to contest in an election.

"I think the time for me to fight is over and done. If I had wanted to, I could still contest, there's no problem with that because the rakyat already knows me.

"I have already served the rakyat for the past three years, and I am free from controversy.

"If I want to take the opportunity (of the state election) to contest against, I still can. To be frank, I have been offered to by many, but I am not interested," he said.

Izhar also advised first-time election candidates to be ready and prepare to make sacrifices to serve the rakyat well. - Mkini
