Roger Ng Was Handed Over To The FBI

Malaysian investigators objected as Ng already charged here for 1MDB

Yesterday I asked why Tim Leissner and Roger Ng were not charged and tried here in Malaysia. Last nite a friend sent an old news report (from Oct 2021) which talks about Roger Ng's extradition to the US. First here is the news :

Roger Ng's US trial postponed; unclear when he will return to face charges in Malaysia

The Edge Markets http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/roger-ngs-us-trial-postponed-unclear-when-he-will-return-face-charges-malaysia

KL (Oct 26 2021): trial of Goldman Sachs' Roger Ng in US for 1MDB on hold until at least April 2022, the High Court here was told on Tuesday.

Ng is facing four charges in Malaysia and is currently extradited to the US while awaiting his trial for conspiring to launder money and bribe government officials in Malaysia and Abu Dhabi through bond offerings that Goldman Sachs handled.

Ng's case in the US is still ongoing.

April 1 2022 another case management to update court on his return

May 2019, Roger pleaded not guilty at Federal Court in Brooklyn, New York.

US DOJ accused Ng of conspiring to launder money, bribe govt officials in M'sia

He was extradited to New York from KL

Ng initially fought extradition but later volunteered to go

Malaysian investigators objected as Ng already charged here for 1MDB

In the end, agreement worked out between two authorities

Ng claimed trial to four charges of abetting Goldman

punishment 10 years' jail, fine at least RM1 million upon conviction

Ng, his former boss Tim Leissner helped Najib, others embezzle US$2.7b 1MDB

Sept 4 2021 M'sian govt dropped charges against Goldman

settlement of almost US$4b but charges against Ng stood

My comments :

Malaysian investigators objected as Ng already charged here for 1MDB

So Ng was already charged here and then extradited to the US? And our investigators (MACC? Police?) objected to that because Ng had already been charged.

Obviously the Attorney General's Chambers (as our Prosecutor) must have agreed to extradite Roger Ng to the US. Why? Can explain kah?

(This is why when I said the other day that this country needs drastic changes in its policies and laws I also made the suggestion that important figures like the Attorney General, IGP, Election Commissioner, MACC Chief Commissioner should present Report Cards, say at least once every six months, to Parliament. Parliament SHOULD NOT have the power to reverse any of their decisions - otherwise they will lose their independence - but they should explain the logic and rationale for their work for scrutiny by Parliament. Just scrutiny. This Roger Ng case is a classic example. Why was Roger Ng extradited to the US when he had already been charged in the High Court here?)

If he had already been charged at the High Court here then why not just proceed with the trial? There are no more floods in Australia, the trial could have been concluded. After that (guilty or not) Ng could still have been extradited to the US for trial over there.

Because if Ng is found guilty in New York, and sentenced to jail (its an if) will he be sent back to Malaysia to continue with his trial here? Or do we have to wait until he completes serving his sentence (if) in the US?

Whatever is the answer to that question, then why not we get a crack at him first?
