PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a singer for allegedly beating up his former wife when she came to pick up their child at his home.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the assault happened yesterday after the two got into an argument in the car park at the singer’s home when the 27-year-old former wife refused to take a picture with him.
The singer scolded and beat her up, resulting in bruises on her body. She then lodged a police report.
“The 45-year-old suspect was arrested at his home in Kota Damansara to assist in the investigation. A urine test on him showed a negative result.
“He will be taken to a magistrates’ court tomorrow for a remand application,” said Fakhrudin in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18(A) of the Domestic Violence (Amendment) Act 2017. - FMT
