President Biden on Thursday unveiled a new $33 billion spending package that would provide military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The proposal is designed to back Ukraine’s war effort through the end of September and includes $20.4 billion for security and military assistance, including $5 billion for weapons from American stockpiles. The spending request was far higher than other aid packages the U.S. has so far provided to Ukraine, and is intended to equip Ukraine for fighting in the country’s east.
Ukraine’s government has asked for at least $2 billion per month from the United States to meet its short-term economic needs. The military aid includes funding for artillery, armored vehicles, anti-armor capabilities, and advanced air defense systems. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday said the Biden administration was studying additional ways to provide air defense and artillery systems to Ukraine.
Good news for Wall Street. They will be making a profit from Ukraine.
