Ceiling prices for chicken announced

KUALA LUMPUR: Effective today, the retail ceiling price for standard chicken in Langkawi will be RM9.90 per kilogramme, while in Labuan island, the items are priced at RM11.30 per kilogramme.

In the west coast of Sabah, standard chicken will be sold at RM11 per kilogramme, while in its east coast, the birds will be sold at RM11.30 per kilogramme.

In Sarawak, the ceiling price of standard chickens has been fixed according to districts, ranging from RM9.80 to RM12.90 per kilogramme.

The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, in a statement today, said the ceiling prices will remain in effect for two months.

Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, on Wednesday, said the Cabinet has agreed to cap the ceiling price for standard chickens at RM9.40 per kilogramme in the Peninsular.

Meanwhile, for chicken eggs, he said the ceiling price has been fixed at RM0.45 each for Grade A, RM0.43 each for Grade B and RM0.41 each for Grade C, in the Peninsular. - NST
