Umno and BN must win big in the 15th general election so that Najib Abdul Razak's "sacrifice" for the party will not be futile, said Ahmad Maslan.
The Umno secretary-general reportedly told the media on Tuesday that the former prime minister's “Bossku” spirit should be continued by BN.
"Solidarity means we stay together through thick and thin, during happy and hard times. We express our disappointment over what happened to our former party president, former prime minister, and BN adviser Najib.
"We are upset because from how we see it, he was not given the due process of justice. His 'Bossku' spirit must be continued by Umno and BN. We must not waste his sacrifice in prison.
"So, as a way for us to not let his sacrifice go to waste, it is important for Umno and BN to win big in GE15," he said, as quoted by Umno Online.
Ahmad spoke to reporters after attending an engagement session with Pahang Umno divisions in Kuantan.
Najib, who served as the country's sixth prime minister from 2009 to 2018, was sent to jail last week after the Federal Court upheld his convictions and 12-year jail sentence in the SRC International case.
The Pekan MP was also ordered to pay a fine of RM210 million. - Mkini
