ALOR SETAR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) should change its shade of blue, a PAS leader said last night, claiming that the party’s members and supporters are “allergic” to a colour similar to Barisan Nasional’s (BN).
Otherwise, PAS election chief Sanusi Md Nor said, PN should stick to the Islamic party’s green-and-white logo.
Officiating the PAS Youth meeting here, Sanusi said PN’s shade of blue was close to that of BN’s navy blue, adding that it was “off-putting” to some, including voters.
“It should be revised as our supporters are allergic to a blue similar to BN’s. Or else, we stick to the PAS logo,” he said.
He said Terengganu PAS, for example, had decided that it would contest under its moon logo in the coming general election instead of under the PN emblem.
Acknowledging that PN component parties had already printed their materials in blue, Sanusi called on the delegates to propose a motion on the use of the PAS logo in the coming national polls during the party’s muktamar on Saturday.
Earlier, Sanusi, who is also the Kedah menteri besar, accused the media of being harsh towards his leadership and PAS in general, “ever since Umno and BN came into power last August”, alluding to Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s premiership.
He said the media outlets had criticised him over the durian farms in Baling after the recent devastating floods, although they were approved by a menteri besar from BN.
The media had appeared to be on a fault-finding mission against his leadership, he said, resulting in some netizens splicing his Facebook videos to try to make him look bad.
“There are netizens and the media who are doing this with ill intent. The political influence on the media is quite high, and we know most are aligned to those in power,” he said.
Sanusi urged PAS Youth members to “counter and dispel the wrong narrative peddled by the mass media”. They should set aside some campaign funds for use on the social media platforms.
“Media is the most important weapon and the most important way to control the way people vote,” he said. - FMT
