PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has lauded Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Md Nor for attracting RM14.4 billion worth of investments through a mega project in Pulau Bunting, in Yan, Kedah.
Ismail said the development of an integrated gas supply centre and power plant in Pulau Bunting was one of two mega projects in Kedah which would uplift the socioeconomic status of people in the state.
The other was the RM10 billion Kedah Rubber City in Padang Terap, which the prime minister launched in February.
“As the chairman of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority, I am pleased with MMC Corp’s decision to invest in the Northern Corridor Economic Region, which will change the people’s socioeconomic status,” he said at the launch of the integrated gas supply centre and power plant in Pulau Bunting.
Ismail said these two mega projects would create up to 15,000 jobs for Kedahans by 2025. He stressed that the launch of both projects, valued at around RM24.4 billion, showed that the state was not sidelined by Putrajaya.
“It has always been the government’s agenda to develop all parts of the country so that no member of the ‘Malaysian Family’ will be deprived of the fruits of this country’s development.
“This effort shows that every state enjoys equal treatment and that economic opportunities are available in all parts of the country, especially in areas that were once left out by the country’s rapid progress,” he added. - FMT
