Muhyiddin claims PN cleaner than Harapan, none on corruption trial

Perikatan Nasional chief Muhyididn Yassin took a dig at Pakatan Harapan and BN tonight, claiming the latter two had lower standards for integrity than his coalition.

He said all PN candidates are clean, and that none of them are in court for corruption.

"BN and Harapan may have standards of benchmarks that are lower than PN on matters of integrity.

"That is why those (BN and Harapan candidates) who are on trial for corruption are allowed to contest," he said while unveiling PN's manifesto in Shah Alam tonight.

While he did not name anyone, this appears to be a dig at BN and Harapan candidates such as Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Lim Guan Eng, and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

On the BN side, Muhyiddin clarified later during a dialogue session that while the coalition's oath for candidates rejected corruption, those taking the oath were corrupt.

Court cluster

He said BN was well known for its "court cluster" - a reference to a group of coalition leaders on trial for corruption.

Of the group, those still on trial are Zahid, Bung Moktar Radin, Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, Shahrir Samad, and Najib Abdul Razak.

Zahid and Bung are both contesting in GE5.

Zahid - who is defending Bagan Datuk - is on trial for allegations of corruption and money laundering of tens of millions from Yayasan Akalbudi.

Meanwhile, Bung - who is defending Kinabatangan - is on trial over allegations that he received bribes amounting to RM2.8 million.

DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng,

As for Harapan, Muhyiddin said there are corruption and abuse of power cases involving Penang that are currently in court.

This is in reference to DAP chairperson Lim, who is defending Bagan, while on trial over corruption charges involving the RM6.3 billion Penang Undersea Tunnel project.

Muda president Syed Saddiq, whose party is in an electoral pact with Harapan, is facing an ongoing criminal breach of trust trial involving RM1.12 million from his former party Bersatu. He is defending his Muar seat.

On a related note, Muhyiddin announced tonight that if PN wins GE15, they will be setting up a special court to deal with corruption cases. - Mkini
