KUCHING: The total sales value of crafts from Sabah and Sarawak has contributed to the country’s overall sales performance of RM211 million this year, surpassing the RM200 million target set by the tourism, arts and culture ministry.

Its minister Nancy Shukri said the sales value of crafts in the two states as of Sept 30 had increased by 19% compared with the same period in 2021, with Sabah and Sarawak craft sales valued at RM15.8 million and RM14.9 million, respectively.

“The value of craft sales generated by these two states shows an achievement of RM30.7 million, which is a 19% increase over the same period last year, which was RM25.7 million,” she said in her speech at the Gala Night in conjunction with the Borneo Textile Craft Festival (FKTB) 2022 her last night.

Nancy said FKTB was organised in conjunction with the “Kuching Waterfront Festival” from Oct 28 to Nov 6, with the involvement of 120 craft entrepreneurs from Sarawak and Sabah.
