If it is "not possible" to field Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the Kemaman by-election, how is he worthy as an adviser to four states administered by PAS (SG4)?
This was the jibe by Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) president Ibrahim Ali towards his PAS counterpart Abdul Hadi Awang.
"The PAS president has outright rejected the proposal to field Mahathir as a candidate for the Kemaman parliamentary seat. I was shocked to hear (Hadi say) 'not possible'.
"What is not possible? Is it because of Mahathir's age, or does he not qualify? If age is a factor, Hadi should also give way for others to become PAS president, because he is already old, and uses a cane," the Mahathir loyalist said in a statement today.
Comparatively, Mahathir is still healthy and moving about, even travelling overseas, said Ibrahim (above).
"If it is 'not possible' to have Mahathir contest in Kemaman, what's the logic of appointing him as an adviser to SG4?"
Ibrahim was responding to Hadi's remark yesterday that it is "not possible" to field Mahathir in Kemaman when asked about rumours swirling regarding the matter.
The candidacy for the seat is still being discussed, the Marang MP told a press conference after attending the PAS muktamar in Shah Alam.
Elaborating, Ibrahim reminded PAS that 'sincerity' goes beyond sweet talks, and pertains to walking the talk.
"PAS already has 43 MPs after the 15th general election and lost the Kemaman seat. What is PAS going to lose by giving the seat to Mahathir?
"The eyes of the world will focus on Kemaman, and PAS will be spoken about around the world. This would make Mahathir's role as the SG4 adviser more effective," claimed Ibrahim. - Mkini
