PETALING JAYA: Sime Darby Property Bhd (SDP) has agreed to review its Tiara Residence development project in the face of opposition from residents of Bukit Jelutong.
In a two-paragraph statement issued to the media today, SDP said the residents concerned as well as stakeholders would be consulted as part of the process.
The residents of Bukit Jelutong have objected to the plan by the property company to develop the last green area in their locality.
The Tiara Residence project involves the construction of 425 residential units in the area.
Last Sunday, more than 1,000 residents of Bukit Jelutong staged a peaceful protest to highlight their concerns.
Bukit Jelutong residents association chairman Zien Hashim said then that residents wanted the field to be preserved as a recreational area as it had been for the past three decades.
He said the residents also wanted the Shah Alam City Council to revoke the planning permission issued on Sept 6.
In its statement today, SDP said it understood its responsibilities on the matter and would continue to explore all possible avenues for solutions.
“The group also acknowledges that this requires careful planning and thoughtful action, and will remain committed to this path,” it added. - FMT
