SHAH ALAM: Police arrested a man for setting off firecrackers on the road during a funeral procession near a supermarket in Banting, Selangor, yesterday afternoon.
Kuala Langat police chief Ahmad Ridhwan Nor said the suspect, who took part in the procession along with several other motorcyclists, had stopped vehicles before letting off the firecrackers.
He said the workshop assistant, aged 28, tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“The suspect is being detained at the Banting police station for further action,” he said, adding that he has a police record.
Ridhwan said police are looking for two more suspects involved in the incident.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, which provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine of RM10,000, or both, if convicted.
The suspect is also being investigated for drug use under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - FMT
