PETALING JAYA: The country’s internet regulator has advised the public against sharing the video clip of the helicopter crash in Lumut, Perak, saying it is an offence to do so.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said that uploading or circulating clips that were disturbing and offensive went against the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
“We would also like to advise those who have uploaded the clip of the incident to delete them,” it said in a statement.
Social media users, it added, should be more sensitive and respect the victims’ next-of-kin who were mourning the loss of their loved ones.
Earlier today, two helicopters collided and crashed during a rehearsal for a Royal Malaysian Navy event.
All 10 aboard the two helicopters perished.
A 21-second video of the incident that has gone viral on social media shows one helicopter crashing into the tail of another mid-air, and both crashing to the ground after that.
Fragments of the helicopters are seen flying through the air and landing near an open field where naval members were assembled for their rehearsal. - FMT
