Pro-Perikatan Nasional activist Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, better known as Ratu Naga, has sent a legal notice seeking the re-activation of her TikTok account.
The notice, dated Apr 25, was sent via the Daim & Gamany law firm to TikTok Pte Limited One, Bytedance System Sdn Bhd, Bytedance Sdn Bhd, and its receipt was acknowledged the day after.
According to Syarul Ema, the legal notice was sent after her numerous emails to TikTok Malaysia allegedly went unheeded.
“Therefore, I have no other choice but to send a lawyer’s notice to TikTok for further action,” the controversial activist said in a brief statement accompanying the legal notice shared with the media.
The notice said that Syarul Ema opened a TikTok account in 2020 before it was taken down on April 10 this year, “with no reasons or grounds given”.
“We are further instructed that our client had a legally binding agreement with you whereby you generated revenue upon our client’s use of services on TikTok through the sale of products or product placement, viewer’s gift, subscribers, and otherwise.
“The said ban upon our client’s account has led to financial losses suffered by our client.
“We are hereby instructed to ask that the said TikTok account as described above be re-activated within three days from the date hereof. Meanwhile, our client reserves all her rights,” read the notice. - Mkini
