DAY 3 | It’s the third day of the 14-day campaigning period for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election before voters head to the polls on May 11.

Campaign running smoothly so far - Selangor police
6.30pm: Shah Alam, Selangor - The by-election campaign for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat which entered its third day today is going smoothly and no untoward incidents have been reported.
Selangor police deputy chief S Sasikala Devi says police will continue to monitor the competing candidates' campaign activities to ensure that the situation remains until the end of the by-election.
"We hope this situation remains and those contesting continue to campaign prudently, professionally and not cause hardship to the public," Bernama reports him as saying at the Officers' Mess at the Selangor police contingent headquarters in Shah Alam today.
A total of 642 officers and police officers have been deployed to ensure smooth running.
In the meantime, he also reminds the candidates and the machinery of the competing political parties to campaign prudently and not to touch on matters that could disturb public order, including 3R issues.
Harapan leader hit by falling whiteboard
12pm: Kuala Kubu Baharu, Selangor - Pakatan Harapan’s Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election director Ng Sze Han was injured by a falling whiteboard yesterday.
He was at a coordination meeting in a community hall here when the accident happened. He then went to the hospital for an examination and found it was just a minor injury.
He told Malaysiakini that he is currently okay but his head is still swollen.
“At that time, sitting on that side (with me) were (Hulu Selangor BN chairperson) Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, (Puchong MP) Yeo Bee Yin, and (Bandar Utama assemblyperson) Jamaliah Jamaluddin, all sitting together.
“I was very puzzled as to why it (the whiteboard) hit me. They told me it’s because I’m the tallest, so it hit me, and I ‘saved’ them,” Ng joked.
“I went to the hospital last night and the scan showed no problems,” he added.
PN candidate on charm offensive
11.05am: Kuala Kubu Baharu, Selangor - Perikatan Nasional candidate Khairul Azhari Saut’s campaign descends upon Kuala Kubu Baharu town.
His team visits various premises for about 1.5 hours, entering a sundry shop and a public market, and sits with diners at a kopitiam.
Most respond with smiles and some approach him for photos.
He was asked by the media about his thoughts on DAP establishing a third Malay branch in the Hulu Selangor district yesterday, which Kuala Kubu Baharu falls under.
“As for me, regarding DAP yesterday, that branch does not involve voters in KKB, so I don’t think it will have much impact on this by-election.
“Yesterday, the branch involved the Batang Kali state constituency, so I don’t think it will have much of an effect on our situation here in KKB.”
Indie candidate rebuffs criticisms
8am: Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor - Besides candidates from Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional, and Parti Rakyat Malaysia, an independent candidate has also entered the fray.
Nyau Ke Xin, 27, is the youngest candidate in the by-election. Hailing from the coastal town of Sabak Bernam in northwest Selangor, she now works in the state’s capital - Shah Alam.
After becoming a candidate, she faced many criticisms. In response, she clarified on TikTok that she has never joined or was employed by any political party.
“Do not be deceived by the words of some irresponsible parties. I have never been a member of any political party, as claimed by some.
“I am not paid by MCA, DAP, Gerakan, or PN. Do not be deceived by these parties who hope that I will withdraw from this by-election.” - Mkini
