The Kelana Jaya LRT line is operating with fewer trains than usual for this evening’s rush hour, resulting in longer wait times.
In a statement today, its operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said this is due to an electrical failure caused by a lightning strike. Repairs are underway.
“The incident that reportedly took place at 3.30pm meant additional trains from the Subang LRT depot could not be mobilised for peak hour operations.
“Following this disruption, the Kelana Jaya LRT service will operate with a frequency of four to five minutes.
“Several amenities such as escalators, lights, and lifts at three LRT stations – namely Kelana Jaya, Taman Bahagia, and Taman Jaya – are also not working. However, users can still use the LRT service as usual at these stations,” it said in a statement today.
It also suggested commuters take the following alternative rail routes:
KL Sentral LRT – Muzium Negara MRT & KL Sentral Monorail
Dang Wangi LRT – Bukit Nanas Monorail
KLCC LRT – Persiaran KLCC MRT
Ampang Park LRT - Ampang Park MRT
“Auxiliary police personnel and station staff have also been placed at platforms and station lobbies to assist with passenger movement. Announcements are also continuously being made at the platforms,” the company added. - Mkini
