PETALING JAYA: The suspended charter airline company, Systematic Aviation Services Sdn Bhd, may lose its aircraft operations certificate if the company fails to resume operations by Wednesday, when its suspension ends.

The company’s air services permit, which allows it to transport people and cargo, had lapsed on Feb 29.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, which suspended the company’s air operations certificate on March 12, said the company must renew its air service permit.

CAAM said if the company failed to resume operations by Wednesday, its air operations certificate issued in 2021 would be revoked.

Industry sources said the company would have to resubmit its application in a process that would take at least three months.

Last week, the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) said it was awaiting SAS resubmitting its application for the air services permit.

On Saturday, FMT reported that the permit was not renewed by Mavcom as SAS was bogged down with problems related to unpaid staff salaries and non-settlement of EPF and tax deductions “running into millions of ringgit”.

FMT has also reached out to SAS CEO Ida Adora Ismail, the human resources minister Steven Sim and LHDN for verification of the claims. - FMT
