KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government has been urged to disclose the updated construction schedule for the Pan Borneo Highway project and any additional costs arising from delays for full transparency.
Libaran MP Datuk Suhaimi Nasir of Barisan Nasional said the authorities must also hold all contractors and relevant agencies accountable for any issues faced during the construction.
"The people of Sabah have been patient enough. They do not want any more excuses. What they want is for the highway to be completed swiftly and safely," he said in a statement on Monday (April 28).
Suhaimi also questioned the need for the special committees announced last year to address land acquisition and utility relocation along the highway.
He said these committees should not be used to gloss over administrative weaknesses.
Suhaimi said the highway was meant to be a vital lifeline for Sabah's economy, and issues such as land acquisition and utility relocation should have been acted upon earlier to avoid delays. - Star
