
TAMPIN: A meeting room at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, located in the administrative building of the district police headquarters here, was destroyed in a fire last night.
District police chief Superintendent Amiruddien Sariman said no injuries were reported in the 7.15pm incident.
"There was a fire on the fourth floor of the police headquarters. The blaze was first noticed by an officer on duty at the traffic inquiry counter, who immediately alerted the fire department.
"Firefighters arrived at 7.21pm and managed to bring the situation under control by 8.10pm.
"At the time, no officers were present in the affected office. Investigations by the fire department are ongoing," he said in a statement today.
He added that the room destroyed in the fire was the division's meeting room. - NST
