PETALING JAYA:
The Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) has revoked the operating licence of the company linked to a May 13 crash that killed nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) men.

In a statement today, Apad said its investigations revealed that Tashveen Trading had committed multiple safety breaches, including transporting goods not authorised under its vehicle permit.

Apad said the company also failed to comply with its Industry Code of Practice (ICOP), was operating with a non-functional and expired GPS tracking system, and did not provide access to essential operational records.

“Following these findings, Apad’s license suspension and cancellation committee yesterday decided to revoke the company’s operator license with immediate effect,” it said.

“The company is now barred from operating or providing services using any vehicle previously authorised under the licence.

“Apad does not tolerate dangerous driving practices involving public transport vehicles that threaten road users’ safety.”

The crash occurred when a gravel-laden lorry collided with an FRU truck transporting personnel who were returning from a security deployment in Ipoh.

The driver of the lorry had previously claimed trial to nine charges of causing death by reckless driving. - FMT
