A mobile phone was seized from an individual linked to the social media post with an incomplete flag illustration.

MCMC said it received several public complaints about the incomplete illustration, prompting an investigation under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or services.
It said the individual linked to the post provided a statement at the Terengganu MCMC office today, and a mobile phone was seized to assist with the investigation.
“Other individuals linked to the case will be called, if necessary, and the investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions,” it said in a statement today.
The statement did not identify the social media post in question, despite a recent snafu at an event logo created by a political party.
MCMC said inaccurate depictions of the Jalur Gemilang, which is the official national symbol that represents sovereignty and unity, can cause confusion and offend public sensibilities.
It also reminded Malaysians that the ease of creating content using tools like artificial intelligence and digital generators does not absolve users from the responsibility of accuracy.
“Practising self-regulation and careful fact-checking is crucial to prevent the spread of misleading content or anything that could disrupt social harmony,” it said.
“MCMC remains committed to taking firm action against any violation of the law, regardless of an individual’s position or background.”
This is not the first time a Jalur Gemilang misstep has come under scrutiny.
Last month, Sin Chew Daily came under fire after publishing a graphic omitting the crescent moon from the national flag, triggering a police probe and the detention of two top editors.
It was followed by similar missteps from Kwong Wah Yit Poh, a Singapore-based baby food brand, and even the education ministry. - FMT
