The meteorological department announces there is no tsunami threat following the earthquake.

The meteorological department (MetMalaysia) said the quake occurred at a depth of 74km, with its epicentre located at 3.7-degrees north and 97.0-degrees east, approximately 107km southeast of Meulaboh.
Tremors from the earthquake were felt in some states along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Several areas in Penang felt the tremors, including Nibong Tebal, Bukit Mertajam, Bukit Minyak, Bertam, Penaga, Seberang Jaya, Perda and Butterworth, Sinar Harian reported.
“There is no tsunami threat to Malaysia,” MetMalaysia confirmed in a statement today.
The department is continuing to monitor the situation and advises members of the public who experienced the tremors to complete a feedback form. - FMT
