Thief caught on CCTV stealing handbag during prayer at Johor mosque

 

A HOUSE of worship should be a place of peace and serenity. But when crime happens during one’s communion with god, the sanctity of such places will be questioned. 

People will no longer be able to worship in peace if they are always required to look over their shoulders, searching for danger that may lurk just beyond their sights.

Take for example, a recent video where a thief could be seen waiting for several ladies to bow during prayer before running off with one of their handbags. Swift and shocking, it seems like he had done this many times prior.

Netizen @mohdazha who saw the video said money should be attached inside the lady’s telekung for safety purposes. 

Note that the telekung is a muslim prayer garment, specifically the traditional Southeast Asian two-piece outfit worn by women during prayer.

Another netizen added that it was normal that this was a guy’s job but refused to elaborate on what he meant by it.

It revealed little about the incident but news media The Sun reported that it happened in a mosque in Johor, and that the authorities are working towards apprehending the culprit.

Fortunately, karma came early in the form of a CCTV camera to identify him so the police will have less homework to do regarding this case. — Focus Malaysia
