2026 budget set to advance Bumiputera talent, says Yayasan Peneraju

The allocation will enable the agency to train 12,000 Bumiputera talents in 2026, including 2,000 chartered accountants and 10,000 technology specialists.

Yayasan Peneraju CEO Ibrahim Sani said the agency is fully committed to supporting the aspirations of Budget 2026.
PETALING JAYA:
Yayasan Peneraju says it will train 12,000 Bumiputera talents next year – the largest annual intake in its history – thanks to the 2026 budget.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today announced that the government will allocate RM6 billion under Budget 2026 to provide education opportunities to Bumiputera students under Yayasan Peneraju, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

In a statement, Yayasan Peneraju CEO Ibrahim Sani said the amount reflects the government’s commitment to advancing Bumiputera human capital in high-skill sectors.

“This allocation will enable Yayasan Peneraju to train 12,000 Bumiputera talents in 2026, including 2,000 chartered accountants and 10,000 technology specialists equipped with skills in cybersecurity, AI, and enterprise resource planning,” he said.

“As the agency entrusted with the mandate to identify, nurture and grow Bumiputera talent, we are fully committed to supporting the aspirations of Budget 2026, which gives us the momentum to take Bumiputera talent to the next level.”

Ibrahim said that for the first time, 2026 will see the number of newly registered Bumiputera chartered accountants with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants projected to surpass non-Bumiputera counterparts in a single year.

He said Yayasan Peneraju’s accounting pathway fast-tracks talents to qualify as chartered accountants as early as 21 years old through programmes such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Meanwhile, its technology programmes cover more than 90 global certifications in cybersecurity, AI, data, and enterprise systems.

Since its establishment in 2012, Yayasan Peneraju – an agency under the economy ministry – has developed more than 80,000 Bumiputera talents, including accountants, innovators in technology, medical specialists, and skilled professionals across diverse sectors.

The agency is currently focusing exclusively on professional certifications and technology-driven programmes that are aligned with national priorities. - FMT
