Alert biker helps avert tragedy after car catches fire on KL road

KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist's quick alert about a small fire at the rear of a car helped save two lives on Jalan Tun Razak here on Friday (Oct 31).

Soon after the occupants exited the white coloured sedan, it was engulfed in flames.

The 25-year-old driver, a student named N. Qistina, was dropping off her friend at the office on Jalan Ampang when the incident occurred at around 6.50am.

"I’m unsure how the car caught fire. I was just sending my friend to work before going to my university in Shah Alam.

"I am grateful to the ‘abang moto' (motorcylist) who alerted us in time," she said briefly to The Star.

Traffic police swiftly cordoned off the area in front of the Intermark Mall.

The fire was put out by the firemen from the Jalan Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Station at around 7.05am.

No one was hurt during the incident. Traffic in the area remained under control. - Star
