Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz has rebuked suspended member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal for alleging that the party’s disciplinary board is targeting deputy president Hamzah Zainudin.
Describing the claims as baseless and irresponsible, Tun Faisal (above) said the accusation reflected Wan Fayhsal’s desperation and was aimed at creating a negative perception of the party’s integrity.
“Wan Ahmad Fayhsal should not pre-empt or make assumptions about the disciplinary board’s actions before any official statement is issued.
“His move shows political immaturity and an attempt to interfere with an internal process that is still underway,” Tun Faisal said in a statement.
Tun Faisal’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions within Bersatu after disciplinary action was taken against several members, including Wan Fayhsal and Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan, for allegedly breaching party discipline.
The actions taken against both MPs have sparked speculation of widening rifts within the party, with both leaders claiming political motives behind the decisions.

Yesterday, Wan Fayhsal claimed Hamzah was the real target behind the party's recent purge of senior members and grassroots leaders.
Speaking to reporters in Parliament, the Machang MP also claimed that Bersatu's disciplinary board's line of questioning during the proceedings against them was focused on Hamzah, who is also the opposition leader.
"They want action to be taken against the opposition leader. That’s why those of us facing disciplinary action are merely collateral. The real target is YB Hamzah Zainudin," he said.

Wan Fayhsal also targeted Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, alleging the latter was responsible for allowing current "malfunctions" within the party to persist.
‘Diversion tactic’
Responding to Wan Fayshal, Tun Faisal said the former’s assertion that critics were victims or mere “collateral damage” was both false and misleading.
“The statement is clearly a diversion tactic to deflect attention from their own proven breaches of the party’s constitution and disciplinary rules,” he said.
Tun Faisal stressed that all members subjected to disciplinary action, including Wan Fayhsal and his allies, were punished for their individual misconduct.
“They violated the party’s constitution, rules and discipline. Therefore, any claim that they are victims is unfounded and amounts to slander against the disciplinary board,” he said.

He also emphasised that the disciplinary board operates independently and professionally, basing its decisions on complaints, evidence and witness statements.
“If Wan Ahmad Fayhsal is found guilty of any complaint, it is a result of his own actions - not because of others.
“The same applies to Wan Saiful; he was disciplined for his own offences, unrelated to Wan Fayhsal or any other party,” Tun Faisal said.
On the appeal board, Tun Faisal advised Wan Fayhsal to remain calm and allow due process to take its course, noting that it has only been 12 working days since the disciplinary decision was issued.
“The party has its own procedures for appointments. There is no need to be desperate,” he said. - Mkini
