Fallen tree damages two cars in Penang

 

GEORGE TOWN: Two cars were damaged after a tree fell across a road near the Taman Free School Flats in Penang late last night.

No one was injured in the incident.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said a team from the Jalan Perak station arrived within a minute of receiving a distress call at 10.32pm.

"When we arrived, we found a fallen tree had partially crushed a Proton Exora and a Proton Saga," he said in a statement.

Firefighters cleared the debris and brought the operation under control before midnight.

The operation was supported by police, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and the Civil Defence Force (APM). - NST
