PARLIAMENT | Malaysia was not invited to the Gaza peace summit held in Egypt yesterday because it gave conditional support to US President Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat today, Anwar said the peace summit organised by the US only invited countries that gave full support to Trump's plan.
"The countries that were invited were those that gave full support for the peace plan. Malaysia was not one of them because we gave conditional support.
"Among the conditions we gave include allowing the return of Palestinians who have been expelled from their country, and several points regarding Palestine's right to exist as a country.
"These conditions are not part of the 20 points (set by Trump). We also (set a condition) regarding the issue of the Zionists’ atrocity and its occupation of the West Bank," he said during Prime Minister's Question Time.
The prime minister was responding to a set of supplementary questions posed by Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) regarding the Palestine issue.
